Surveys

Market Street is experienced in using online, telephone, and mail surveys to help you better understand the marketplace, your customers, your competition, and other factors that affect the success and growth of your business.

Online Surveys

Online surveys offer a breadth of advantages for our clients over other methodologies, including:

  • Convenience. Respondents can complete the survey whenever they have the time, whether late at night or early in the morning.
  • Response rates. Response rates for online surveys are comparable to those for telephone surveys and higher than those for mail surveys.
  • Low-cost. The costs associated with most online surveys is usually significantly lower than that for comparable telephone or mail surveys.
  • Speed. Most online surveys can be completed–from initial meeting through presenting the findings–in far less time than for telephone or mail surveys
  • Reaching low-incidence populations. Online surveys are an effective tool for reaching low-incidence populations, such as people who have purchased or intend to purchase a specific product or service, people who have a specific disease, or high income households. It can be cost prohibitive to reach those kind of populations using other methodologies.

The Market Street team uses online surveys as a quantitative marketing research methodology for determining what people think and how they behave. Online surveys can also be used to determine:

  • What is important to my customers and potential customers in making a purchasing decision?
  • How is my company viewed in comparison to competitors on the factors that are important to customers and potential customers?
  • What are the different segments of the market for my products and services, and which segments offer me the greatest potential for growth?
  • What is the demographic and psychographic profile of my customers vs. those of competitors?
  • What messages resonate most strongly with my customers and potential customers?

Questionnaires
Market Street has over 35 years of experience in developing custom marketing research questionnaires for each project. We work closely with each client to:

  • Create questionnaires of any length and complexity
  • Quickly and easily modify a questionnaire
  • Develop questionnaires that have a mix of closed-ended and open-ended questions

Sample Design
Our team draws upon decades of experience in designing marketing research samples for quantitative surveys. Each year, we collect data from tens of thousands of respondents from everyone from consumers to corporate executives to not-for-profit leaders and employees. We work with nationally-respected marketing research panel companies to provide us with the email addresses for potential respondents in a specified market area.

Telephone Surveys

There are markets in which it is appropriate to conduct surveys by telephone, because the population isn’t big enough to conduct a survey online. While less than 50% of the households in the United States have a landline, and there are many challenges to trying to survey people via cell phones, we have consistently found that we can obtain accurate data via telephone surveys.

We have done extensive tests for a variety of clients in which we have collected data both online and by telephone, and in comparing the findings from the two methodologies, we have consistently found that the results are highly consistent once we have weighted the data by age to reflect the age distribution of the population in the surveyed market area.

Data Collection
Market Street contracts with nationally-respected data collection firms to conduct interviews for large-scale telephone surveys. We work closely with these firms, communicating with them daily to monitor response rates and inspect the quality of open-ended responses. Our team provides interviewer training materials and works with vendors to make sure the data collected is top-quality. When selecting a new vendor, Market Street maintains stringent quality standards.

Mail Surveys

Market Street has conducted mail surveys for many types of businesses and organizations, from chambers of commerce to hospitals and educational institutions. Mail surveys are a quantitative marketing research data collection method in which respondents complete questionnaires on paper and return them via the mail. Some of our clients use mail surveys to gauge customer satisfaction or member satisfaction. Our team handles all aspects of mail surveys, including questionnaire design, printing and mailing, data collection, and analysis of results.
